Project
CSG Life Saving Rules training video
The project
A Life Saving Rules video Changshin INC shows to workers at its production sites in several countries. We set out the 8 rules as illustrations and key-point screens and made it in 5 languages: Korean, English, Chinese, Indonesian and Vietnamese.
Structure
Each rule repeats the same frame, an illustration of the situation on the left and four "Key Points" lines on the right, so viewers can follow the structure whatever the language.
- Rule 1. Wear personal protective equipment suited to the task
- Rule 2. Never disable machine and equipment safety devices
- Rule 3. No cleaning or repairs while machines are running
- Rule 4. Follow LOTO (lockout/tagout) procedures
- Rule 5. No phone use while working or walking
- Rule 6. No eating or drinking outside designated areas
- Rule 7. Store chemicals only in designated places
- Rule 8. Work only after a work permit is issued
Design
We first set a design guide with Changshin's colour codes (infinite blue, purple blue, cyan blue) and the Pretendard typeface. Site equipment such as protective gear, presses, LOTO kits and the chemical storage room was newly illustrated to match the real thing.
Revisions
After the first review found the design too flat, we strengthened the sound design with effects matched to each scene, such as protective gear being wiped, a press running, warning tones and a padlock clicking shut. We made the rule text larger and re-timed narration and picture for each language.
Delivered
A 6-minute-56-second horizontal animation in 5 language versions. The video above is the Korean version.
